EeePC 1000 Series

2008 has been a boom year for Asus when it comes to subnote books. It has just released the 900 and 901 series and now we have the Eee PC1000 models. Unlike the previous models, the one distinct feature of the 1000 series is the size of the screen.

The 10 inch screen is just what the computer needed. Other added features to the 1000 EeePC are the 1.6GHz Intel atom processor. If you buy the 1000 EeePC with the linus operating system you get 40GB SSD, but the 1000H model with windows XP has a 80GB HD. Both 1000 models have up to 2GB of DDR RAM, Wifi and blue tooth. The extensive internal and outer modifications to the EeePC 1000 do make it look slightly bulkier comared to the older generations of subnote books.

One feature which Asus has really improved on is the key board. It is slightly larger and more brightly lit. The keys are larger and easier to hit. The shelf life of the batteries is still in question but Asus claims that it varies from 4-7 hours.

Unlike the past tradition of have good Asus computers for cheap prices, the Asus EeePC 1000 series is not cheap. While the prices have not been set, one should expect to pay anywhere from $ 600-$700
